FOURm -Matt Crookshank with others 2005 i showed a group of 6 small paintings for this group abstract exhibition at awol gallery in toronto. awol didn't give me much notice for the show, and i completed the paintings in 2 weeks. i decided to just let loose on the canvas, tubing out grotesque amounts of paint directly onto the canvases. i broke all my rules, and tried to make wrong paintings. hence, the sinner stories. each painting has a story attached, purposefully creepy and uncomfortable, reflecting the mood i intended for each painting. you can read the stories, and the review that RM Vaughan wrote for the national post by clicking the links below. press---statement click number to view images from the show. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
